A monster storm called a “snow hurricane” or “bomb cyclone” is expected to bring wintry weather to Florida. Meteorologists say residents on the east coast should expect temperatures in the 50’s for up to 10 days.
It is important to understand that most HVAC systems is South Florida have “heat strips” as opposed to “heat pumps”. These are less expensive and mostly used in the Southern part of the state. Heat strips are not prepared to work efficiently under 65˚F, please do not let your house get under 60 degrees and expect your heat strips to keep up.
We are advising our customers — Do NOT let your home fall below 65-70˚F. This will put unwanted stress on the heat strips in their units.
