Copper theft in Palm Beach County has been on the rise 2008.
Believe it or not — the copper in your air conditioning unit is very desirable to thieves.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) reports metal thefts have increased 81% Since 2008. The FBI says “Copper Thefts Threaten U.S. Critical Infrastructure”. This confirms what many are seeing through news reports and their own experience – thefts of copper and other metals are occurring all over the nation.
At Advanced Cooling and Heating Inc., we recently received an emergency call from one of our commercial clients in Palm Beach County. A local restaurant that realized their five air conditioning units had been stripped of their copper the previous evening (so had all the other restaurants in the area).
How can a local South Florida restaurant be without air conditioning during lunch hour? The answer is obvious. . . they can’t. So Advanced Cooling and Heating Inc., immediately mobilized the team to help.
We paused all installations that morning, gathered the team and we were able to pull out all stops to have everything up and running for the lunch crowd. The client was happy that they did not lose lunch revenues. They were also happy that they could rely on us in an emergency and that we did not take advantage of the situation.
