What We Do

An ERV runs two air streams past each other through a transfer core. Stale indoor air goes out, outdoor air comes in, and as they pass, heat and moisture move between them. The incoming air arrives already part-way conditioned, so the cooling system is not asked to treat raw outdoor air from scratch.
The moisture transfer is the part that matters here. A heat recovery ventilator moves heat only, which is the right device for a cold dry winter and the wrong one for a Florida August — it would deliver fresh air at close to outdoor humidity. An ERV moves moisture as well, which is why it is the ventilator that belongs in this climate.
Know The Signs
These complaints get blamed on the air conditioning and are rarely the air conditioning’s fault. They are symptoms of a building that is sealed well and never gets a genuine exchange of air.
A bathroom or kitchen fan only pushes air out. The building still needs to replace it, so it draws make-up air through whatever gaps it can find — wall cavities, the attic, around windows.
In Florida that means hot, humid, unfiltered air arriving uncontrolled. An ERV supplies the replacement air deliberately, filtered and pre-conditioned, so the pressure stays balanced.
How We Install
An ERV that is fitted but never balanced can leave a building under negative pressure and pull in more humidity than it removes. The commissioning is not a formality — it is the difference between the device helping and making things worse.
Airflow calculated for the building’s volume and how it is actually occupied, rather than fitting whatever unit happens to be on the shelf.
Supply and exhaust measured and matched so indoor pressure stays neutral. This is the step that gets skipped and the reason badly fitted ERVs disappoint.
Outdoor intake placed away from exhaust outlets, driveways, dryer vents and standing water, so what you are pulling in is genuinely fresh.
Connected to the existing duct system or run independently, depending on the building — and checked so the ERV does not disrupt the cooling system’s own airflow.
Core specified for moisture transfer, with filters sized so they clean the incoming air without choking the fan that has to pull through them.
Electrical connection and control configuration, set up so ventilation runs on a sensible schedule and can be boosted when the building is busier.
Moisture transfer means condensate. Drainage is planned and tested, because an ERV in an attic has exactly the same leak potential as an air handler.
Airflow measured on both streams at handover, and the readings recorded, so there is a baseline to compare against at future service visits.
Cores and filters need periodic cleaning or replacement. We cover ERVs under maintenance agreements alongside the rest of the system.
The Honest Assessment
An ERV solves a ventilation problem. It is not a dehumidifier and it is not a fix for a duct system that leaks, and buying one to solve either of those is an expensive way to be disappointed.
Where the problem is genuinely a shortage of fresh air, nothing else does the job as efficiently.
