Effective July 1st, 2023 – F.S. 559.956 (Florida Statutes) now REQUIRES HVAC Manufacturer Warranties to be “attached” to the property if it was installed by a licensed contractor.
In the past, manufacturers would often use the transfer of property (sale) as a reason to void the parts warranty on HVAC systems. Thankfully, that is no longer the case.
Licensed Contractors for the Win!
As long as homeowners can provide proof (a receipt) that the HVAC system was installed by a licensed contractor, the warranty will remain attached to the property rather than the individual homeowner. This new requirement ensures that manufacturers are obligated to honor the warranty. We extend our gratitude to the State of Florida for taking this step to protect homeowners and contractors.
This is wonderful news for Florida homeowners! (F.S. 559.956). Need any more reasons to consider using a licensed contractor?
