HVAC – Hurricane Preparedness for 2021 Season

  1. Make sure the exterior unit is correctly fixed to the slab or roof and properly elevated due to standing water. (Make sure “tie downs” are secure and up to code)
  2. Remove and store any loose items (outdoor furniture, vases, etc.) that can be projectiles and damage the exterior unit.
  3. Turn your A/C down cooler than normal before the storm.
  4. If possible, leave the Breakers off when the storm arrives to prevent damage to the unit from power fluctuations.
  5. Check your outside condenser (when safe) for debris and damage after the storm and make sure the unit is unobstructed (18 inches clear of debris) before turning it on.
