Your HVAC unit can account for almost HALF of your energy bill. In the South Florida summer, the average outdoor temperature has a direct correlation with your energy consumption, as your air conditioner runs for longer periods to keep your home cool.
Tips for Energy savings
- Keep your thermostat at 78˚ degrees when you are home, and raise to 82 when outside the home
- Use a fan to cool the room you are in, but turn off when you aren’t home
- Close shades and blinds to keep out the sun
- Grill outside to keep your kitchen cool
- Maintain proper airflow by keeping interior doors open
- Clean or replace your A/C filters regularly
- Consider a high efficiency unit when replacing your old unit.
