Supply, installation and configuration. What decides whether a new control works properly is not which one you buy — it is the wiring behind it and whether your equipment can actually speak to it.

What Actually Decides It
Advanced Cooling and Heating is a licensed Florida HVAC contractor (License #CAC057209), established in 1996 and based in West Palm Beach. A modern control is a modest purchase. Whether it works as advertised depends almost entirely on three things that have nothing to do with the box it came in.
Power, changeover and staging. Most connected controls need a permanent power supply at the wall, and plenty of older installations never ran one. Heat pumps switch between heating and cooling through a dedicated wire that has to be set the right way round, or the system delivers the opposite of what you asked for. And a two-stage or variable-speed system wired to a basic control loses its low stage entirely — it runs flat out or not at all, which is worse for both comfort and humidity.
Some equipment will not take a third-party control. A number of variable-speed systems communicate with their own proprietary controls over a data link, and fitting a generic device downgrades the system to simple on-off operation. That is a real loss of capability, and it is better known before the purchase than after. Where that is the case we will say so rather than fit it and leave you wondering why the system feels cruder than it used to.
What We Do
Across Palm Beach and Broward counties, residential and commercial.
What your equipment supports and which controls will run it properly — answered before money is spent.
Power supply resolved, changeover set, old mercury units removed and disposed of correctly.
Staging and cycle settings matched to the equipment rather than left on factory defaults.
Where the equipment supports it, the setting that matters most in Florida and the one most often left unused.
Network connection and app configuration, genuinely useful on a property that stands empty part of the year.
Where one system serves rooms with very different loads, zoning is the answer a thermostat alone cannot give.
Short cycling, heating when it should cool, or a stage that never engages usually points at wiring or configuration rather than a faulty control. Switch the system off and call.
